KC certification is a procedure and a scheme to certify safety and reliability by evaluating whether broadcasting and communications equipment to be domestically manufactured, imported, and sold complies with relevant technical standards or regulations. Based on severity of risk (RF interference, network risk and human safety), this is classified into three types: compatibility certification, compatibility registration, and tentative certification.
This certification is performed by the government for equipment that causes RF interference, adversely affects human body or network service, or compromises safety of either people or networks.
Compatibility registration by designated testing lab
Equipment that has less RF interference and less impact on human body and safety than those subject to compatibility certification
Compatibility registration by self testing
As equipment that has a restricted scope of use and used only in a specific field, these are registered after their provider performs relevant tests and confirms their safety.
If there is no relevant standard as new technology is applied or other reason for being unable to compatibility evaluation, restricted certification is tentatively given and, after relevant technical standard is established, official certification is granted t in a designated period.
